Magpie Games Announces Upcoming Games Slate, including Temeraire RPG & Second Edition of Masks!
July 31st, 2025 – Albuquerque, NM - Award-winning tabletop roleplaying game publisher Magpie Games announced a new slate of upcoming titles for 2025/2026 at the Magpie Games Showcase at Gen Con 2025. Known for innovative games with unique settings—such as Masks and Urban Shadows—as well as successful licenses like Avatar Legends, Root: The Roleplaying Game, and Fallen London (currently in development), Magpie Games is excited to feature the following titles in the next year:
Three Card-Based Horror Roleplaying Games
Magpie Games returns to Kickstarter in October 2025 with three card-based horror roleplaying games: Airlock (space horror), The City Devouring (eldritch horror), and Zombie World (post-apocalyptic zombie horror). These card-based games offer tense, captivating roleplaying in a single box!

Temeraire: The Roleplaying Game
Magpie Games is excited to announce a multi-year licensing agreement with Naomi Novik to produce a tabletop roleplaying game set in the world of the Temeraire book series. Set amidst the Napoleonic wars, Temeraire: The Roleplaying Game allows fans to play both human and dragon characters who find themselves at the crossroads of duty, honor, and freedom.
The Temeraire RPG will use the Ædana System™, the new game engine from Magpie Games’ award-winning design team that has already raised more than $1 million on Kickstarter. The Ædana System features a core dice pool mechanic that focuses on fast, nuanced resolution for challenges. During play, players and GMs can also expand a challenge into one of many intricate conflict systems, diving deeply into full-fledged contests—chases, battles, and social clashes—with surprising outcomes
Fans will get a first chance to try out Temeraire: The Roleplaying Game early next year with the release of a full quickstart, followed by the launch of a crowdfunding campaign in Spring 2026. Magpie Games hopes to bring the full line—including supplements, dice, and other accessories—to Gen Con 2027.
Masks: A New Generation—Second Edition
Finally, Magpie Games returns to Halcyon City with a second edition of Masks: A New Generation! Featuring updated and refreshed mechanics, new playbooks, a new 8.5 x 11” format, exciting new art, and a trove of new lore, this new edition expands everything fans love about Masks in one place!
The new version of Masks will arrive in 2026 with the release of a new quickstart, followed by a new crowdfunding campaign in Fall 2026. Magpie Games hopes to publish the full line—including supplements, dice, and other accessories—in early 2028.
